2007 Journeys: Bolivia

by Kathy 6. May 2009 16:48

Our motorcycle adventure in Bolivia was the first long journey that Ben and I took away from our children (then ages 4 and 7). During our extensive research in planning the trip, we considered many countries and finally selected Bolivia. We wanted a very challenging ride, with long days of riding and difficult terrain. We found Maurice of Moto-Andina to be our guide, and he worked with us to design a custom 13-day route that started in the capital city of La Paz and made a large figure “8”, with a southern loop through the high plains (altiplano) and a northern loop through the mountainous jungles. After our route was finalized, Maurice asked if he could invite other riders along; we enthusiastically agreed, and four Belgians joined us for the fun.

Planning Our Adventures

Then the ideas start coming together . . . ahh, the possibilities . . . and the dream evolves gradually into an actual plan. But, oh, the joy of the dream!  Click here to learn more about how we plan and prepare for our journeys.

Words for the Heart

“. . . and then the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”
